2019 Summer Open Class Schedule
Irises, Tulips, Violets, Orchids and Cedars are especially encouraged to take Open Classes and may come to Foundation, Challenge, and Flex Days.
Challenge Days: taught roughly equivalent to Orchids level
Foundation Days: taught roughly equivalent to Tulips level (Lilacs are also welcome, but should expect the class to be challenging)
Note: Those in Pointe II or III are encouraged to take a portion or all of class (especially on Foundation days) on pointe. Dancers have the freedom and primary responsibility of maintaining their pointe work over the summer.
Flex Days: enjoy a class in a genre of dance different from our normal offerings - hip hop, contemporary, character, jazz, or musical theatre
Adult Class: any experience level welcome
New Beginners: designed primarily for pre-teen and teen beginners who are getting a later start to ballet or returning after a long break. This class will help them learn the basics in the summer and be better prepared to integrate into our leveled classes for the 2019-20 Season, though it is not a requirement that attendees enroll in regular season classes.
June 17 - Aug 9*:
New Beginners Class | Monday | 6:30 - 7:30 pm
Adult Class | Monday | 7:30 - 8:30 pm
Challenge Days | Monday & Thursday | 4:30 - 6:00 pm
Foundation Days | Tuesday & Wednesday | 10:30 am - Noon
Flex Days | Friday | 10:30 am - Noon
*No classes on July 4th or during Upper School Intensive: July 29 - Aug 2*
Open Class Pass options are designed to provide flexibility to families with varied summer schedules. Simply estimate the number of class your dancer is likely to take this summer based on their availability, and choose the closest pass. Bundled classes are more economical per class, and include several free classes when compared to the per-class rate. Any unused classes will not be reimbursed and cannot be applied to future semesters.
Each class is worth one “card punch.” If buying a bundled class pass, please pay half of the cost by the first class taken, and the remainder by July 15th. Register and purchase cards through the parent portal (Account Menu at top) starting May 6th.
By-the-Class Rate $7.50
Red Pass = 8 punches (ideal for Adults or New Beginners) $50
Orange Pass = 16 punches (equals up to 4 free classes) $90
Yellow Pass = 26 punches (equals up to 8 free classes) $135
Green Pass = unlimited punches (includes 50% off 5-day Intensive tuition) $250
Doxa is thrilled to welcome back guest instructors, Kason & Ashley Hanson for a 5-day intensive for Intermediate (Irises, Tulips) and Advanced (Violets, Orchids) dancers focused on helping dancers understand proper alignment and turnout to improve their ballet technique. In addition to technique classes, the intensive will include pointe/pre-pointe, conditioning/cardio, classical and worship variations, and jazz/contemporary classes. A devotional time will begin each day. A T-shirt is included as well as fun evening outings! Participants should bring a sack lunch.
Dancers do not have to be Doxa year-around students to participate, but do need to be evaluated for placement prior to the intensive. New students should attend one open class prior to enrolling (1 free for placement purposes). Contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any eligibility questions.
5-Day Intensive $175*
July 29 - August 2 | 9:30 - 4:00 M-TH; 9:30 - 12:30 FR
*FOR DANCER: Tuition includes entrance fee/ticket price for three evening outings, tentatively TEXAS Outdoor Musical (Tues), Wonderland Park (Wed), and Amarillo Sod Poodles baseball game (Thurs). Consider bringing additional money for concessions as these are not included. Outings are subject to change. Intensive participants are not required to participate in all three, but all three are included in the tuition and cannot be refunded individually.
*FOR PARENT: If a parent is interested in attending with their dancer, please email email@example.com for individual ticket rates. Parents who choose to attend are included in the group and are expected to act as a chaperone for the group. Ticket availability may be limited.
